Greetings to you all:

Teachers, School Administrators, ASL’s Volunteers, and Friends!

It is my pleasure to serve as the new Executive Director of the Arizona Science Lab, and I would like to thank our previous Executive Director, Stu Wecker, for his longtime dedication to leading ASL.  He continues to support us as our Webmaster.

As we move forward, our overall goals remain the same.  We want to bring the excitement of STEM to Phoenix-area elementary school students through our free workshops held at the Evans Learning Center in Tempe.  In addition to the seven always popular workshops that we have offered in the past, I would like you to be aware of two new workshops we’ve added.  Last year we added the “Physics of Building Structures”, which teaches students about structural load paths and building design concepts.  It includes a fun design/build activity in which they build a tower and subject it to “earthquake” loads.  New this year, we are including the “Math” in STEM, by introducing a “Statistics, Probability, and Analytics” workshop, featuring many fun, real-life applications of these concepts.

We are excited to kick-off the new academic year, and already have many teachers signing up for workshops.  Teachers:  If you would like to bring your class to one of our workshops, please fill out the Contact Information form on the “For Teachers” webpage to get started.

I would be happy to provide more information on ASL’s mission and workshops.  Please contact me at the email below.
