The Arizona Science Lab operates under the management and partial funding of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a 501(c)(3) organization. The IEEE is the largest professional engineering organization in the world, with more than 500,000 members in 190 countries.

Since February 2009, the Phoenix Section of IEEE has run a Teacher In-Service Program/Engineers In the Classroom (TISP/EIC) activity branded as the “Arizona Science Lab” (ASL). The Arizona Science Lab offers STEM workshops free of charge to all public schools, charter schools, and home schools in the Phoenix area, and especially may serve as a resource to state grade “C” and “D” and federal “non-AYP” and “Title 1” schools. ASL also serves many schools' gifted programs.
